6 ways to eat healthier without dieting.

Losing weight can be so frustrating, trying to overcome all the habits we pick up, all the stereotypes we believe we should look like. Which is made worse by access to social media. It feels like we have a constant reminder everywhere we turn. I get it I have been in your shoes.

I am glad to see that beauty standards have changed a lot from when I was a teenager, but I still struggle everyday with my imagine and what I grew up being told what the beauty standards are.

I gained over 150lbs after having my 4 children and dealing with my depression. I did all the fab diets. I could never stick with it. I was bored of the food, starving, not losing and don’t get me started on doing cardio…. Yuck!!!!

Here are some great tips for healthier eating.

  1. DON’T CALL ANYTHING A DIET!!! I REPEAT NO DIET! I’m telling you referring to anything you do food wise and calling it a diet instantly makes your brain feel likes it is a punishment. We are all grownups and we natural don’t like to be told we can’t do something and putting diet into the equation gives you rules. If you want to lose weight and feel healthier make a lifestyle change. Don’t live off salads or fruit. Make health-conscious decisions and know that everything is ok in moderation. (My blog 5 ways to lose weight can explain a little more way I say this).

  2. If you are like me and a busy single working mother with no time to make breakfast, lunch and dinner for yourself every day or get motivation on your days “off” to meal prep, or maybe you don’t know what those healthy choices should be, or you just want something easier whatever your reason is, that is ok. Nowadays there are so many to make healthy choices. There are choices at your local grocery store, companies that dealer to your front door and if you want to meal prep millions of recipes online. I have personally done all 3 of these. It all depended on my funds at the time.

  3. Meal plan. Whether you are making it, having it delivered or following a plan. The importance of sticking to a healthy lifestyle is planning what you are going to feed yourself. It doesn’t have to be complex thing. I simply make a smoothie in the morning, have a pre-made meal for lunch, and eat what I make my family for dinner. With that being said I do have pre-made healthy snacks for daily the day in-between meals. Keeping for yourself full is important and having a good water in-take will help and suppress appetite.

I recommend adding protein and greens anywhere you can. Click Here

  4. Have that brownie. I explain this more in one of my other blogs, but I want to talk about it a little in this one as well. If you want that brownie, cookie, or pizza than DO IT!!! if you think you can’t you are wrong. This is where that diet thing comes into play. If you keep yourself away from things you enjoy than your need healthy lifestyle won’t last. No don’t the whole box of brownie but if you eat one you got your stratification and you can move on without continuing to think about that brownie and how bad you want it and wish you could have until you finally give in, and binge eat.

  5. Cutting out soda is essential. It is wasted calories and adds some much sugar intake to your every day that could be cut in half with something healthier and more stratifying. I use powder supplements, low sugar/no calories powder mixes and smoothies. The powder options give me little to no sugar and I also can add that to my water in-take for the day. Double win! Smoothies can be high in sugar if you’re not careful, but I will use it still if I want to drink something other than water and coffee because I love my coffee.

  6. Dessert options don’t have to be left out. If you are like me, I have a sweet tooth that I CAN NOT GIVE UP. Giving yourself healthy choices and keeping out of reach high sugar options would be the first step. Replacing them with yogurts, smoothies, high protein home-made desserts will give you that sweet craving satisfaction without giving you a lot of empty calories. Keep in mind from #4 if there is something you are just dying to have then have it because the possible quitting or binging isn’t worth it.

When adding protein and greens in smoothies, food, or other drinks can be can an amazing way to keep you full longer and your daily dietary vitamin needs for the day. This one is unflavored and much easier to add it to anything Click here
